Nightlife

The incoming students can explore the nightlife of Žilina by visiting some of the various restaurants, cafés and bars that spread around the city. Most of them are placed at one of the most beautiful places in Žilina - at Mariánske námestie (square).

Students can also go clubbing and visit the Enjoy club or club Ulala

Cultural life

Žilina offers a lot of opportunities how to explore the cultural life, the most interesting ones are:

  • Old Town Festival - The Old Town Festival in Žilina (tradition since 1995) is the event focused on presentation of folk crafts and musical open-air festivals of all genres. It takes place in the town centre, on two main squares. Among accompanying events, there are the International Children’s Day,
  • Carneval - The Biggest carnival festival (called “fašiangy”) in Slovakia. During the Carneval Slovakia Žilina event, there are hundreds of masks celebrating and amusing themselves, coming from the neighbour regions of Slovakia, Poland and Czech Republic. Costumes have a non-recurring art character, typical for this region, unique in Europe and so different from other carnival cities around the world. Streets are full of stalls offering local foods, performers and folklore artists. There is a local attraction of flying masks - falling from tall buildings.

Sport life

If you are keen on doing sports, you can go swimming, play tennis, try to play Ice Hockey or you can go roller blading at Vodné dielo (the Water dam, which is very popular among runners and roller blading people).

What’s more, from the Vodné dielo you can see the amazing nature which surrounds Žilina, in which you can go Skiing, hiking and more.
